Recent high-profile moves in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
Mover of the month is former executive director at the European Medicines Agency, Dr Thomas Lönngren, who has been appointed strategic adviser at NDA Group's newly launched regulatory and market access firm, NDA Advisory Services

After 10 years as executive director at the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Dr Thomas Lönngren has been appointed strategic adviser at NDA Group's newly launched regulatory and market access firm, NDA Advisory Services. Dr Lönngren will use his 30 years' experience in the regulatory field to help create a co-ordinated approach to Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and improve market access in Europe. The current head of administration at the EMA, Andreas Pott, holds the position of acting executive director while the recruitment procedure for a new executive director for the agency is completed. He has been head of administration since May 2000.

Cherry Wood, managing director of Liberation Communications, has been elected chair of the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA). Wood replaces Sarah Matthew, joint chief executive of Virgo Health, who has served as HCA chair for the past three years. Wood is a founding member of the HCA, which was launched 10 years ago.

Matt de Gruchy - Ogilvy Healthworld UK  

Matt de Gruchy has been appointed as chief executive of Ogilvy Healthworld UK, succeeding Lois Hall, who has become global planning director. De Gruchy has worked at Ogilvy Healthworld for 14 years, and most recently held the role of group director of client services and managing director of public relations. Meanwhile head of public relations Antonia Betts and head of medical education Tracey Wood have been promoted to the company's UK board.

The Central Group has appointed Fraser Crawford as a junior associate. Crawford, a life sciences graduate from Newcastle University, will work on the opinion leader and brand strategy areas of the business.

Anne-Marie Rodriguez de Killeen - Chandler Chicco Companies

Chandler Chicco Companies has appointed Anne-Marie Rodriguez de Killeen as managing director of Chandler Chicco Agency (CCA). She will lead CCA's multidisciplinary PR and communications team and will join the European and global leadership team. Rodriguez de Killeen joined CCA in 2009 to lead the global Merck Serono Erbitux business. She was previously head of experience at Ogilvy Healthworld.

Ethypharm has appointed Bruno Delie as executive vice president of business development. Delie, who joined Ethypharm in 2000, has held positions at Parke Davis, Roquette and Prographarm Group.

Harry Armfield - Lane Earl CoxKim Hughes - Lane Earl Cox

Harry Armfield (left) and Kim Hughes (right) have been promoted to joint creative directors at Lane Earl Cox (LEC), part of the Omnicom Group. Armfield has been with LEC for almost three years and has more than 30 years' experience in pharmaceutical and consumer agencies. Meanwhile Hughes has worked for LEC since 1994.

TBWA\Paling Waters has promoted Steve Morris (right) and Ed Shorthose (left) to its management board as managing partner. Both will continue to have responsibility for their clients but will take on additional roles within the company. Morris will focus on attracting and retaining talent at the company, while Shorthouse's responsibility will be to ensure clients' needs are met following the company's digital transformation and its expansion in the emerging Asian and European markets.

Philippa Hammerton and Steve Lowery - Red Leaf Research

Former TNS Healthcare colleagues, Steve Lowery (right) and Philippa Hammerton (left), have launched Red Leaf Research, a full service marketing research company with expertise in the healthcare and consumer sectors. Lowery, who was head of custom healthcare at Synovate UK, has more than 15 years' industry experience. He has worked client side at Janssen-Cilag and Pfizer. Hammerton spent six years at TNS Healthcare, before moving to Basis Research, where she focused on retail, FMCG and technology. Red Leaf will provide qualitative research solutions, as well as research-related training and consultancy services for clients across healthcare and consumer sectors.


Cally Clarkson (centre), who has 10 years of healthcare experience, has joined HealthEd as client services director. She will work closely with her US colleagues on global business in Europe. Clarkson has become part of the newly formed HealthEd Europe leadership team which consists of Heather Bennett (far right; client services director), Sarah Bundock (far left; head of health education research), Mike Kennedy (second from right; head of creative services) and Kerren Davenport (second from left; head of editorial).

Wendy Gerber and Tania Kouprach-Rolandi have joined OgilvyHealthPR's London office. Gerber, who has been appointed as an associate director, will work within the HIV area. She has worked for WCG, MS&L and Chameleon Communications International. Meanwhile Kouprach-Rolandi, who has been named as senior account manager, will focus on cardiology and oncology accounts. She was formally at Athena Medical Communications.

M:Communication's has added senior consultant Katja Toon and consultant Nick Francis to its healthcare team. Toon has 15 years' experience in communications across the healthcare sector working for Northbank Communications, SV Life Sciences, Russell-Welch (now GCI Healthcare) and Genset (now Merck Serono). Francis, who has 11 years' industry experience, joined from Takeda Pharmaceuticals Europe where he was head of communications. He has also worked for Eli Lilly and Company.

Mike Holland has been appointed as research director at IPSOS Health. He joined from Harris Interactive and has worked for ORC International and BDRC.

Dr Laura Lane has joined Black Swan Analysis in its analysis and forecasting team. Lane recently completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge.

David Ashford Jones, former head of CV marketing at AZ, has created Sagio an agency focused on marketing planning and training. Ashford Jones has held roles at Schering, AZ and Parke Davis.

Norgine has appointed Allison McAulay and Janet Granger to its corporate and business development team. McAulay, who joined the company in 2007 as global market research manager, has become business development manager. She previously worked for Schering in Berlin in European and global marketing. Granger, who has been selected as evaluation and alliance manager, joined Norgine in 2007 as project manager within product development. She has worked for Stiefel Laboratories for 13 years, most recently in project management.

PAN Advertising has made two additions to its account handling team. Sophie Gibbs returns to PAN as account manager, while Naumaan Mayet joins as account executive from Wolters Kluwer.

VANTAGE, the consultancy arm of Virgo Health, has enlisted an additional senior consultant in response to its significant growth over the last year. Caroline Gosling, formerly managing director of Virgo HEALTH PR, takes a newly created role as head of strategy and will work alongside joint CEO Sarah Matthew and creative director, Rebecca Rhodes. Commenting on her new role, Gosling said: "I am over the moon to be joining the VANTAGE team in this new role. I look forward to drawing on the full breadth of my experience to tackle the varied dilemmas that clients bring to us."
