The Pharmaceutical Market Excellence Awards (PMEA) 2012 has opened for entry, once again recognising pharma companies that have delivered excellence in their business practices and enhanced the industry's reputation.
Considering the challenging past few years for the industry, the PMEA 2012 has evolved to even better reflect the changing and challenging business environment and represent an industry with high principles.
Changes include the introduction of several new categories as the scheme looks to represent the continued emergence of digital and social media, as well as the increasing prominence of partnership and collaboration between industry and healthcare organisations.
Also, for the first time, this year the programme looks at business-to-business alliances in healthcare as well as excellence in the structuring and strategic interpretation of quantitative data.
Entries for the 23 categories are invited from UK or European pharma, biotech, ethical, life science, OTC and medical device / diagnostic companies; pharma companies in conjunction with one or more of their marketing agencies / consultancies; and advertising agencies, PR or medical communications agencies, or management consultants acting on behalf of the client pharma company.
Winners of each category will be announced at a black-tie dinner on Thursday 29 November 2012, at Hilton Park Lane, London.
They will be looking to follow on from previous winners, including Shire and AstraZeneca, the victors in PMEA Company of the Year (<£150m) and The Accenture Award for Company of the Year (>£150m) respectively.
Individual winners for 2011 included Sir Andrew Witty, CEO of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), who won the Outstanding Industry Leader Award, while Sam Pearce general manager, Celgene UK & Ireland picked up the Emerging Leader Award.
