PMGroup has launched the Quality in Care Awards, a brand new scheme that will both recognise and champion best practice in the treatment and care of patients

PMGroup is pleased to announce the launch of its Quality in Care Awards, a brand new scheme that will both recognise and champion best practice in the treatment and care of patients, in line with the Department of Health Quality and Productivity goals. The Awards will initially recognise excellence in six key therapy areas:

The Awards' judging criteria will include:
-          delivery of outcomes vs national (and international) standards
-          delivery of high quality patient experience
-          improved access to care
-          reduced waiting times
-          delivery of quality and value within recognised treatment guidelines
-          effective disease-prevention strategies, involving screening and early patient diagnosis
-          patient education initiatives
-          success in accessing high-risk/hard-to-reach populations

As a company, PMGroup has become synonymous in recognising and rewarding best practice with their well established and highly regarded, Communiqué Awards and PMEA (Pharmaceutical Marketing Effectiveness Awards).

Governance and judging panels for the new Quality in Care Awards are currently being put in place and will involve all stakeholders, including patients, local authorities, clinicians, pharmacists and nurses.

Alison Clough, commercial and communications director of the ABPI said: "We are delighted to welcome these initiatives, which will recognise and reward improvements in a number of treatment areas, all of which have been identified as NHS priorities".

PMGroup's managing director, Mark Savage said: "Our vision has always been to encourage the pharmaceutical industry to strive for best practice. With these new Awards we now want to help recognise best practice, in line with the NHS policy priorities and to benchmark and share best practice models. Our reputation within the pharmaceutical industry for innovation and integrity means we are well placed to push the boundaries once more, in order to champion improved healthcare and patient outcomes."

Further announcements will be made over the next few weeks about the Quality in Care Awards. Meanwhile, for further information about the Awards, please contact Anneliese Cameron at PMGroup on +44 (0)1372 414200 or acameron@pmlive.com
