The PM Society Advertising Awards 2008

This year's awards ceremony took place on January 30, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and despite the financial turmoil of 2008, 350 entries from more than 40 agencies were received
Michael MacintyreNew PM Society chairman, Steve Clark, welcomed delegates to the event that promotes creative excellence, stating that creativity is an attribute required more in these difficult times than any other. Mr Clark was pleased to note, however, that despite challenging economic conditions, there was a significant increase in digital media entries and for various other campaign award categories.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers (PRTC) was the chosen charity this year. Chief executive of the Trust, Carole Cochrane, explained that 6,000 people take on a carer role daily in the UK and that one in eight adults is currently a carer. She stated that the organisation offers comprehensive carer support services in the UK to 350,000 adult carers and 15,000 young carers through its network of 144 independently managed carers' centres, 85 young carers services and its interactive websites.

Donations provided by the audience were entered into a draw, and the prize of a luxury weekend for two was presented by PM Society Awards chairman, Neil Smith, to the lucky winner. 

The event's host was noted comedian, Michael McIntyre and TV show Britain's Got Talent finalists - Signature - entertained audiences with their crowd-pleasing Michael Jackson tribute act.
