United Drug expands remit of Ashfield division

And healthcare services provider rebrands to UDG Healthcare

United Drug is to integrate its sales, marketing and medical services activities into its existing Ashfield division under the name Ashfield Commercial and Medical Services.

The move comes as healthcare services provider United Drug restructures both its operations and branding, changing its name to UDG Healthcare.

The new Ashfield Commercial and Medical Services expands on United Drug's existing Ashfield business, which is currently focused on contract sales. The expansion means the business will now cover several more areas, including pharmacovigilance and healthcare communications.

"We have always put our clients first and uniting these businesses in one division will help us do that even more effectively,” said Chris Corbin, Ashfield's managing director.

The culture underpinning both Ashfield and UDG Healthcare is built around five core values; quality, partnership, ingenuity, expertise and energy. Ashfield's ambition is to continue to grow and expand its business internationally by sustaining this ethos.

Following its rebrand, UDG Healthcare now operates through four key businesses: Aquilant Specialist Healthcare Services, Ashfield Commercial and Medical Services, Sharp Packaging Services and United Drug Supply Chain Services.

Services provided by the UDG companies include pharmaceutical contract packaging and clinical trials materials services, out-sourced sales, and the provision of logistics services to the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

“The rebranding will enable the organisation to market its services more effectively to international healthcare companies. We will be able to better explain both the breadth and depth of our services across different companies and divisions,” Corbin told PMLiVE.
