WCG has acquired the digital communications agency Refreshed Wellbeing.

This is the second acquisition for WCG in 2013 – in March the company bought analytics group Mettle, in a bid to increase its predictive analytics capabilities.

Refreshed Wellbeing will complement these activities by bringing a combination of digital creative, together with media planning and buying capabilities, WCG said.

Refreshed Wellbeing has extensive expertise in delivering integrated pan-European digital marketing campaigns, working with clients such as Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Grunenthal, Johnson & Johnson, LEO Pharma, Mentolatum, Pfizer and Roche.

Co-founder Carl Engelmarc, a digital strategist and integrated branding communications expert, will join the WCG EMEA management team, bringing over 20 years’ marketing experience in prescription medicines, consumer health and FMCG. He will be managing director of digital marketing at WCG.

All Refreshed Wellbeing employees were offered roles with WCG, and all but two of them have taken up the offer. Its EMEA HQ, WCG’s London office has more than 40 employees working with clients across 50 countries.

“As with any acquisition our priority is to integrate the Refreshed Wellbeing team swiftly into WCG to rapidly see the benefits that both companies bring to clients, prospects, employees and the marketplace,” a WCG spokesperson told PMLiVE.

WCG described the acquisition as a win-win situation. In addition to its digital skills, Refreshed Wellbeing will bring regional knowledge, and will in turn benefit from WCG’s large global footprint and insight-led strategic approach.

Earlier this year, WCG was named by the Holmes Report as Digital and Specialist Agency of the Year, and WCG London rose to seventh place in PR Week’s healthcare agency ratings.
