Zeno named PRWeek's Agency of the Year

Zeno Group was named PR Agency of the Year at the 2011 PRWeek Awards in New York City on Thursday evening

Zeno Group was named PR Agency of the Year at the 2011 PRWeek Awards in New York City on Thursday evening. The Manhattan-based agency, which specialises in healthcare, technology and consumer brands, "enjoyed a stellar 12 months on various fronts," PRWeek said in announcing the award.

Zeno had an impressive 16 per cent year-over-year revenue growth for the 12-month period ending September 30, 2010, "but it was the breadth of new client wins that really caught the judges' attention," PRWeek noted. The new clients included Seattle's Best Coffee, Sears and Tropicana.

The judges also cited the fact that Zeno had made a dozen new hires – including some in healthcare – and had named Edelman veteran Barby Siegel as its new CEO.

The panel singled out a healthcare-related effort as among Zeno's best work of the year, pointing to the company's "Know Your Stats" campaign for the American Urological Society, which encourages men to talk to their doctor about prostate cancer screening.

Euro RSCG Worldwide's Marian Salzman picked up the award for PR Professional of the Year. "Since Marian Salzman took the helm of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR's North America operation in 2009, she has reinvigorated the agency with her can-do attitude and trendsetting views," PRWeek said. The judges highlighted the agency's success with sanofi-aventis (S-A) under Salzman's leadership, noting that Euro RSCG Worldwide has doubled its budget with S-A and launched STAND, a social media campaign to raise awareness about diabetes.

The award for Healthcare Campaign of the Year went to BioSector 2 and Boehringer for "I Drive for COPD," a NASCAR-themed campaign that, within eight months of its launch, resulted in more than 380,000 people being screened for COPD using an online questionnaire.

The Multicultural Marketing Campaign of the Year was also in healthcare: Ruder Finn and Novartis took the award for their "Believe in Healthy BP" effort, which targeted African Americans by partnering with gospel communities and the Grammy Award winner Yolanda Adams.

Other key awards of the evening included Large PR Agency of the Year, which went to Edelman; Midsize Agency of the Year, which went to Zeno; and Boutique Agency of the Year, which went to Kwittken, a company founded in 2005 by the PR veteran Aaron R Kwittken.
