Wilmington Healthcare appoints new consultants

Healthcare intelligence provider Wilmington Healthcare, which incorporates HSJ, Interactive Medica and OnMedica, has expanded its team with the appointment of two new senior consultants – Roger Tomlins and Sarah Shield.

In their new roles, Roger and Sarah will help healthcare business leaders to better understand the NHS’s evolving needs and work in strategic partnership with it, as it continues to implement the Long-term Plan and the delivery of sustainable, high value healthcare.

Roger has worked in healthcare for over 16 years, in both the pharmaceutical industry and the NHS. He has joined Wilmington Healthcare from Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he was Senior Regional Access Manager and led new customer- focused initiatives for the company in cardiology and oncology.

Prior to that, he worked for Pfizer Essential Health as a Clinical Effectiveness Consultant. His NHS experience includes working for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as General/Operations Manager for four years, where he led key hospital directorates, including surgery and medicine.

Sarah has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 14 years and has wide experience of providing consultancy on market access, strategic partnerships, clinical policy development and government affairs.

Before joining Wilmington Healthcare, Sarah was National Policy and Partnership Lead for AstraZeneca UK’s cardiovascular and renal franchise, and provided strategic insight on NHS policies, commissioning and reimbursement pathways.

Other posts that Sarah has held at AstraZeneca, include National NHS Relations Lead, Cardiovascular & Oncology.  Prior to that, she worked for GlaxoSmithKline for four years in roles that included Therapy Specialist for its allergy portfolio.

Gareth Thomas, Managing Director of Wilmington Healthcare, said: “Having worked in diverse roles within the healthcare sector, Roger and Sarah bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their new posts.

“They are perfectly placed to help our clients keep pace with the scale and speed of change within the NHS and create compelling propositions. They will be a great asset to our consultancy team, and we’re delighted to be working with them.”
