Tommy’s chooses Waggener Edstrom for Midwife Support

Agency will conduct UK-wide survey among midwives.

London, 3 November 2014 – Tommy’s, the baby charity, has chosen Waggener Edstrom to partner with them in conducting large-scale outreach to midwives throughout the UK.

Speaking on the partnership, Dr Beckie Lang, Health Campaigns Manager said, “We’re really excited to be working with Waggener to get this much needed research underway. Tommy’s has a great opportunity to reach midwives with important and sometimes critical information for parents-to-be, and this research will inform the way in which we provide this in the future. We also hope through the research that we raise awareness of the trusted name of Tommy’s to a key audience.”

The campaign involves surveying as many of the 30,000 or so midwives as possible working in the UK to elicit information on their use of pregnancy health literature and information and support for parents-to-be. This is the first time the charity will have conducted such a wide-ranging information search.

Tommy’s is a national charity that funds research into the causes and prevention of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. They are also leading providers of pregnancy health information and support for parents-to-be. Research is undertaken across their three research centres in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

This campaign sits neatly within Waggener’s integrated functions and aligns with the company’s citizenship programme of offering pro bono specialist services, servicing the public good. The work will be led by WE’s healthcare specialist team along with the expert Insights & Analytics team. Commenting on the appointment, Anna Gray, VP said “We’re really proud to announce we’re partnering with Tommy’s. At Waggener Edstrom we have a solid corporate citizenship strategy. The team working with Tommy’s has agreed under our Make-A-Difference scheme, to provide highly skilled pro bono work. Tommy’s provides a unique and much needed service and we’re happy to be supporting such valuable work.”

Time to snap up the opportunities
Is there a place for Snapchat in health communications? TL;DR: When it comes to communications it is always important to make sure what you’re creating and sharing is adding value to the conversation, and not just jumping on a gimmick for the sake of it. A deep understanding of audiences and insight into their behaviour will drive successful use of the next generation of social media engagement.
