We’re really proud to have been working with Guy Yeoman and
Mitch Silva on their new book, Patient
Engagement for the Life Sciences.
To celebrate the book launch, we’ve been talking to Guy about
why patient engagement is so important to pharma.
I’m a firm believer and I’m passionate about effective
patient engagement. I think it delivers value for the industry, but also for
patients and society at large.
My background is in the pharmaceutical business. I’ve been
working for the last two decades in the industry, and over the last three years
I’ve built a patient-engaging capability for a large pharma organisation. So I
come with that corporate, strategic background.
The co-author of the book, Mitchell Silva, is a patient. He’s
a patient expert himself, he’s a EUPATI scholar, and he’s built a virtual
patient network for patients with cancer.
So between us we bring both perspectives. We demonstrate
clearly in the book why the industry needs to change, but also how it needs to
change and what operating framework could be put in place that enables
effective patient engagement, delivering value for both the industry as well as
the patients and allied stakeholders.
