Adding different perspectives to scientific communications at Porterhouse Medical

- PMLiVE

Porterhouse Medical Group is delighted to announce that, once again, we have strengthened our scientific services team – this time with three new associate medical writers who, with different scientific backgrounds, bring new perspectives and insights to the company.

First, we are thrilled to welcome another medical doctor, Lauren Barklie, to the team. Lauren graduated from the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine and worked in clinical practice for five years. During her degree, she developed an interest in the research and communication of medical information. This career change will enable Lauren to combine her interests in medicine, writing and medical education, while her experience will allow her to assess information from the different perspectives of a clinician, researcher and patient, which will be of great benefit to our clients.

In addition to this, we are delighted that Alex Stainer has joined the team. Alex studied at the University of Reading, graduating with a BSc in biological sciences and a PhD in cardiovascular biology, and completed a one-year postdoctoral research associate position. During his PhD and postdoc, Alex realised that he preferred the writing and communication elements of his work more than the laboratory-focused aspects, and so has chosen a career that allows him to stay at the cutting edge of science while developing his passion for writing.

Last but not least, we are pleased to welcome Robyn Wood, who has a BSc (Hons) in biomedical sciences from the University of Manchester. She also has an MSc in reproductive and developmental medicine from the University of Sheffield, and on completion of this was awarded the Infertility Research Trust Prize for achieving the highest grade on the course. Like Alex, it was during her postgraduate degree that Robyn realised she enjoyed the writing side of her work more than the laboratory research itself. She is now looking forward to using her scientific knowledge in a creative way to help others.

At Porterhouse Medical, all members of our team have a solid scientific background, allowing them to quickly get to grips with new products, understand and develop key communication objectives, and interpret complex data with accuracy and precision. They combine this with exceptional attention to detail and keen commercial thinking to deliver creative, impactful solutions that are scientifically sound and compliant with all relevant codes of practice.
