Allegro welcomes third intake of aspiring medical writers to fast-track training programme

Ashfield Healthcare Communications, a leading global healthcare communications agency, today welcomes its third intake of aspiring medical writers into its accelerated medical writing training programme, Allegro.
Following on from the success of the first two intakes, 15 more employees joined the business today as Associate Medical Writers and will now begin their 12-month development programme, comprising an 8-week training phase and two 5-month agencies rotations. At the end of the programme, these recruits will join one of Ashfield’s agency teams in the UK as a Medical Writer.

Allegro has been designed to achieve a number of objectives, specifically linked to providing a strong talent pipeline to fuel company growth, providing quality assurance in Associate Medical Writer development, attracting the best talent to Ashfield Healthcare Communications and supporting the agencies in the training and pastoral care of junior Medical and Scientific Services staff.

The 12-month, accelerated-learning programme comprises an 8-week training phase followed by two five-month rotations around our healthcare communications agencies, after which the Allegro recruits will join an agency team full-time as a medical writer (assuming predefined performance benchmarks have been met). The initial focus will be on the training of our UK-based junior writers, with expansion to the USA a possibility in the longer term. The programme will be a new way of operating for Ashfield Healthcare Communications and will, as it grows to its full capacity of up to 80 recruits per year, bring wider benefits, such as a strong message to our customers about our investment in people and our capacity to deliver client work.

Neil Marmont, Allegro’s Programme Director, said: “We now have a core group of Allegro Associate Medical Writers contributing to the business in their agency rotations and we are delighted to have 15 more talented people join us today. We have enhanced the training phase based on the learnings from previous intakes, with the initial 8 weeks now providing an even better foundation for a career in healthcare communications.”

The Allegro programme has been designed to ensure Ashfield Healthcare Communications continues to recruit the best talent available and provides the training they need to develop their skills and career.

"I can say with honesty that I am loving every day here and I am looking forward to all that is yet to come!" -Amy Farr, Associate Medical Writer in the third Allegro intake.
