TB Innovation Summit 2019: Finding our Moonshot to End TB by 2030

by Edelman for Stop TB Partnership

Despite being preventable and curable, tuberculosis (TB) is the world’s deadliest infectious disease. 2018 was a major year for the TB community. The first-ever UN High Level Meeting on TB galvanised unprecedented attention – but it was critical to remind global health leaders that their promises and commitments from 2018 must not be forgotten.

We supported a six-way partnership between our client Stop TB Partnership, PATH, Global Fund, Johnson & Johnson, Fullerton Health Foundation and World Economic Forum to create the 2nd annual TB Innovation Summit in New York City in just under eight weeks. We put the patient story at the forefront offering a VR experience showcasing a day in the life of a TB survivor, created a bespoke event programme featuring pitch sessions, fireside chats and frank discussion about innovation with change-makers from financing, research and development, access to medicines and delivery and created inspirational branding and content. We captured the global health community’s attention on the eve of the UN General Assembly and catapulted TB to the top of the agenda for world leaders with the power to make urgent change, together.

SLTC Summit: Conquering the Silent Killer

by Elements Communications Ltd for Gilead Sciences Ltd

Gilead Sciences recognised that the healthcare system was failing people with hepatitis C and challenged us to do something about it – to help redefine clinical practice and facilitate more people infected with hepatitis C being found, linked to care and treated.

We consulted a Steering Committee and, in 2017, the Screening and Linkage to Care (SLTC) Summit was born! An annual one-day multi-stakeholder, multichannel, action-orientated meeting bringing together ALL disciplines with a stake in hepatitis C care. Full of innovation, interaction and integration, the SLTC Summit programme is designed to be relevant, educational and inspirational for everyone. Momentum is continued through a meeting-in-a-box distributed to country affiliates following the event, leading to over 1,600 stakeholders from 46 countries directly experiencing an SLTC Summit meeting so far.

The SLTC Summit surpassed all expectations, with overwhelmingly positive engagement and endorsement from stakeholders. 96% of delegates agreed that the SLTC Summit provides practical information to improve their day-to-day practice. An upsurge in countries implementing National Hepatitis Plans since inception and €71m pledged for patient finding/access to care in Italy indicates that change is happening. Moreover, the SLTC Summit has cemented Gilead Sciences status as the partner of choice in hepatitis C elimination.

CLEAR HORIZONS: A New Era of Psoriasis Care

by Lucid Group for AbbVie

Despite recent advances in the understanding of psoriasis and rapid expansion in treatment options available, most patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis still receive delayed, inadequate or suboptimal treatment. The introduction of a new class of therapies, IL-23 inhibitors, has the potential to provide long-term efficacy beyond that currently achieved in clinical practice. CLEAR HORIZONS was designed to help physicians to understand the potential of this new treatment class and to introduce SKYRIZI, a new IL-23 inhibitor.CLEAR HORIZONS needed to establish an IL-23/SKYRIZI expert community where trial experience was limited, connect and share expertise across the globe and then drive change to clinical practice at a local level. The CLEAR HORIZONS programme focused on establishing and mobilising “Leaders of Change”; a connected and empowered group of global and local innovators who would inspire change in others. An immersive delegate journey of local and global touchpoints led to an experiential event that would ensure “Leaders of Change” had the knowledge, skills, resources and commitment to drive change and create momentum in their countries via an omnichannel implementation strategy. To date, 271 “Leaders of Change” have already inspired ~3,500 dermatologists across 30 countries, contributing to the launch of SKYRIZI exceeding all expectations.

LiBRA 2019: Looking Beyond the Joint in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): Is There a Missing Link in RA Management?

by Lucid Group for Sanofi Genzyme

RA is a chronic disease affecting up to 1% of the worldwide population. Along with swollen, painful joints, most patients suffer other medical complications including cardiovascular disease, depression and diabetes, that considerably impact their quality of life. Even with therapeutic advances, up to 40% of patients experience suboptimally controlled disease.

Sanofi Genzyme Regeneron, assisted by Team Unity – a Lucid Group Company, launched LiBRA, an international education programme that aims to drive clinical practice change to achieve better RA disease control. Insights highlighted that (i) rheumatologists face barriers that prevent them from helping patients to achieve optimal disease control; (ii) a tailored, personalised approach is needed to support delegate clinical practice change.

LiBRA 2019 employed tactics known to be engaging and memorable and to reinforce behaviour change – we took rheumatologists on a comprehensive, innovative journey that would ultimately inspire them to address the missing links in their clinical practice. 80% of delegates committed to implement clinical practice change and were fully supported by their MSLs through personalised follow-up. Delegate and MSL feedback demonstrated LiBRA is succeeding in its aim to provide a programme that adds real value to the rheumatology clinical community, and ultimately improve outcomes for people with RA.
