Just 18 months after founding akt health communications the consultancy earned recognition as a leading specialist agency that is wholly living up to its vision. In the past 12 months, the agency has more than doubled in size and taken on new clients that now range from the biggest names in global pharmaceuticals to up-and-coming biotech and med tech companies. As a young company we have faced challenges and uncertainty as major clients have undergone mergers and acquisitions, yet each time our proposition and commitment has resulted in growth rather than cutbacks. We have won competitive pitches through our creativity and strategic thinking and delivered on our promises to our existing base – maintaining a singular focus on quality, not quantity.

Most importantly, in amongst the expansion the agency has seen and the industry-leading results we have generated, we have remained absolutely true to our agency’s family values – putting our people first, celebrating each other’s successes and making sure that akt is an agency where our team feel at home.

Attigo are a highly skilled, fast growing agency. We are managing to balance the demands and high standards required by the largest global pharmaceutical company with our social drive to employ highly skilled people living with long-term health conditions who would otherwise struggle to achieve gainful employment. It is our belief that in the healthcare communications industry that we must live and breathe the patient journey, we must understand their challenges and through our business model we have become an active part in supporting patients into recovery and fulfilling lives.

Our mission is clear – we develop impactful programmes that improve patients’ lives. Our goal – to build a group of thought-leading agencies, each with a different focus, each serving a client need and each enhancing patient outcomes significantly.

In 2019, we began this exciting journey. From one agency we created two, each complementary, each insightful and creative. We leveraged the best of our heritage, responding to market demand for more insights, more patient voice, and more emotional, creative, impactful means of disseminating medical science.

Within these two agencies we designed and delivered innovation that looked at new ways of delivering data, generated evidence to support the patient voice, and took patient support to the next level with a behavioural change programme that has been heralded by patient organisations across Europe and the US as groundbreaking.

All this with no outside investment, a brave approach and close partnerships with our clients. One of our values is Bravely Bedrock – and in 2019 our staff delivered on this and our awesome clients came on the journey with us.


2019 was a record year for earthware. Driven by a new, single-minded focus on the healthcare sector and an emphasis on improving the marketing and client services parts of our business, we won several new clients, picked up seven awards (including Golds for innovation at the PM Society Digital and PMEA awards) and achieved the best financial performance in our 12-year history in terms of revenue and profit.

earthware’s 2019 investment in our people, business process software and partner network allowed us to be more responsive and flexible to the needs of our clients, whilst freeing up our best people to conceive ground-breaking innovative solutions that solve the real-world problems of our customers and the patients and HCPs they serve.

Our values have helped us to create an agency that clients love working with and our people love working for. Following the launch of earthware’s Values Awards, our team of 20 people submitted over 350 nominations for their colleagues and we currently have a Gold ranking on the employee engagement platform Officevibe.

2019 was the year earthware came of age as a healthcare agency and was celebrated as the most innovative consultancy by the industry itself.

WE Communications

In 2019 WE UK’s health team of eight people were determined to create relevant, impactful campaigns for clients that moved people to positive action. A study of UK healthcare professionals – Brands in Motion – alongside consumer trend data sources, informed our approach. A move toward an integrated model – Digital Experience Technology – consolidated the commitment to deliver progressive healthcare communications. Our programmes produced tangible results, demonstrating behaviour change amongst audiences.

By attracting team members from other sectors, we ensured diversity of thinking and successfully tackled our recruitment issues. Our people strategy incorporates bespoke training plans and the WE Care programme focused on mental well-being. We also encourage our team to give back to our local community through the Month of Giving and provision of two days off each year to participate in causes close to their heart.

A new business success rate of 83% and revenue growth of 25% delivered against the financial KPIs set for the year.
