Spoonful of Sugar

Summary of work

I have long believed behaviour is the rate-limiting step between an innovative treatment and real-world positive outcomes for patients.

After more than a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, I put my money where my mouth was and brought this conviction to healthcare communications as CEO of Spoonful of Sugar.

From our beginnings as a one man, university-incubated start-up to a 10-strong SME delivering international health behaviour programmes, my organisation has been driven by my own experience of the patient perspective and personal belief in the need for a new approach to healthcare communications.

The world of healthcare is shifting ever further towards a model of personalised medicine and I am taking a leadership role in our sector in communicating this shift, setting the agenda and building the profile of personalised medicine.

My leadership finds its best expression in the relationships I build. I have created strong, lasting partnerships between the academic world and commercial enterprise and brought people from patient groups, professional bodies, think tanks and other innovators together to form productive relationships that will lead to fundamental improvements in patient care.

My profile as a thought leader is growing and I am bringing about tangible change in healthcare communications.
