Office Move

by AbbVie

Summary of work

AbbVie faced a challenge: to combine two separate offices, comprised of distinct functions with varying business accountabilities, into a single, bespoke workplace that embodied AbbVie’s ways of working and signalled the dawn of a new employee culture… in six months. A compelling communications story was necessary to bring employees on the journey as AbbVie moved from living in its parent’s shadow, to standing on its own two feet.

Recognising that today’s audience wants, needs and owns the conversation, the employee voice was critical to every stage of the planned journey, from choice of carpets to choice of coffee. We embraced online and offline channels and created a compelling identity that would carry on into our new home, pulling the red thread of connection from our past to our future. We saluted our heritage and acknowledged the nostalgia for our previous incarnation, while building excitement for our future.

On time and budget, employees entered their new home fully informed, engaged and involved and ready to start work. The sense of pride in the workplace is palpable, creating a combined community with a commitment to healthy working, reduced waste and enhanced business efficiency that sustains AbbVie on its path to future growth.
