Real Science Communications
Summary of work
Over the past 2 years, Real Science has doubled in size and is now a £4m+ revenue business - from humble beginnings in one room just off Borough High Street we have grown to a sizeable, profitable business in a little over 7 years. Those 7 years have been nothing if not eventful. We began as a start-up sister agency (then known as Purple Hat Communications) to independent Resolute Communications. We changed our name to Real Science during the course of Resolute's acquisition by the Publicis Healthcare Communications Group (PHCG) and have grown from 4 to 30 full-time employees.
We have created an entrepreneurial culture where science lives at the heart of everything that we do and where our people can travel the world working with great clients on accounts that make a difference. We operate independently within the PHCG structure with our own financial responsibilities (eg P&L), culture and ways of working. As 2015 approached, we needed to look at each area of the Real Science business to bring fresh thinking - we did this by asking powerful questions and have been amazed by the results. We have introduced new training initiatives, developed a new approach to our new business pitches, delivered some impactful and innovative programmes for our clients and had a lot of fun!
Judges’ comments
Real Science have succeeded in creating a highly trustworthy brand, with impressively outlined processes that enabled solid, scalable and deliverable productivity. Their ‘people approach’ was a particular high point for us and no doubt will be for clients, who see them as a ‘partner that delivers’.
