Summary of work

Bedrock’s fantastic success last year can be attributed to a number of factors and started with developing an even deeper understanding of our clients’ needs and their perceptions of Bedrock, through a far-reaching client insights programme. This led to a realignment including differentiating and positioning ourselves based on our strategic and creative approach and focusing on the development of a novel space in the medical communications area – Creative Medical Education – to focus on optimising audience engagement. We continued a strong focus on values, ensuring that we live them internally with each other and externally with our clients, and we continued significant ongoing investment in our people and team development to prepare ourselves for future success. The recruitment and development of an energised and experienced SMT and a rapidly expanding Scientific Services team are two examples.

Focusing on this strategy has had a dramatic effect in 2017; revenue growth was 97% and client feedback shows a high net promoter score of 71. Every existing client continued to invest with us in 2017 and this was bolstered by new business and the return of previous clients during the year. This is testament to the efforts, enthusiasm and commitment of the whole team!

Judges' comments

This was a well delivered entry and we liked Bedrock's honesty as they outlined how they acted to address a challenging year in 2016. Their clear communication of values, positioning and strategy proved highly effective and refocused performance. Despite the challenges they had faced they invested heavily in the senior team, delivered good growth and achieved detailed, positive feedback from multiple stakeholders.
