Data-driven life sciences companies work at the interface between biotechnology and technology. They combine cutting-edge techniques from both sectors to draw insights from a wealth of data. This includes data concerning patients, drug molecules, healthcare infrastructure and research and development, to inform and transform drug discovery and patient care. One way to describe these companies is to take the ‘tech’ of technology and the ‘bio’ of biotechnology to create ‘tech bio.’ But do the various stakeholders in this sector understand this terminology? What does it mean to them? Can they use it confidently and to their advantage in conversations outside their scientifically switched-on peer group.
The UK BioIndustry Association (BIA) knew there was a lack of clarity from both within the biotech/pharma industry and amongst policymakers around how to define the work taking place in this space. So, working closely with our client, Mind+Matter proposed a qualitative piece of research to gather insights and build consensus, using input from experts from across all the Tech Bio ecosystem.
This research report would also showcase data-driven life sciences successes from six BIA member case studies – illustrating just some of the innovation coming out of UK data-driven life sciences companies.
This simple, but effective submission from Mind+Matter and BIA impressed the judges. They liked the way they sought to make the technical language and content accessible and took an educational/informative approach to provide something genuinely useful as well as good PR for the industry.
