“Cancer will take you prisoner.” These are the words of Norbert, who is currently living with multiple myeloma. For him, and for hundreds of thousands of others, this rare but deadly form of blood cancer has an overwhelming and insidious impact on their lives. When you’re diagnosed, traditionally at 60+, it can feel like life is closing in.
You think you can no longer do all the new things you were waiting for retirement to discover. Instead months are a cycle of counting down to the next treatment. Weeks are spent awaiting results. Days blend into each other...
Janssen wanted to change that. What if we could empower people living with blood cancer to face their diagnosis with an open mind and not just make the most of their time, but actually feel like they have more time?
Enter Time Keeper, a free, first-of-its kind clock created by Edelman and Janssen, in partnership with those living with multiple myeloma as well as leading neuroscientist, Dr David Eagleman.
Time Keeper empowers those with the condition to not just make more of their time, but to feel like they can actually bend time by opening their mind up to new experiences.
The judges thought the Time Keeper work was original and they hadn’t seen anything like it done before. Edelman and Janssen have developed something that is genuinely useful for patients. It is a truly phenomenal idea, backed up with science and executed well.
