Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme

by Celgene In association with Myeloma UK

Summary of work

The Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme (MNLP) is a first of its kind, an innovative online learning resource developed for nurses with a special interest in myeloma. It aims to provide myeloma-specific information and improve the patient experience by setting a benchmark for management, treatment and care.

The programme comprehensively covers every stage of the patient’s cancer pathway, capturing the complexity and individual nature of the cancer and reflecting the pace of change in research and policy. It is credit-rated by Edinburgh Napier University and accredited by the European Oncology Nursing Society and the Royal College of Nursing Australia.

Judges’ comments

First of its kind given we have had treatment innovations in this area for almost a decade. I really liked the sharing and best practice involved in this programme. It showed that you can learn far more from your peers and this also reached out to other countries so it gets a big tick from me!

Testimonials and Judges’ comments

Senior lecturer/reader in cancer nursing: The Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme is a fantastic learning resource for myeloma nurses and it is an excellent model for nurse education in a rare cancer. At Edinburgh Napier University, we recognise the quality of the Programme content and the standard of learning for nurses.

General manager: We are delighted that we were able to partner with the patient group to develop the Myeloma Nurse Learning Programme. It is clear from the uptake of the initiative that this has been a much welcomed resource by myeloma nurses and one which we really hope continues to raise the bar of myeloma care and help improve patients’ quality of life, both here in the UK and further afield.
