Highly Commended: Humira brand team - this time it's personal by Abbott




This category provides the opportunity to look at operational effectiveness, strategy and integration within either a European, global or domestic team. Entries were invited from any team that demonstrated cross-functionality and did not necessarily have to be from a permanent department.

In particular the judges were looking to see how the team came together to build the marketing plan; how problems were solved; how the team affected the results and what the team did in the face of adversity? Overall, they were looking for entries that made them think, "I really want to be part of this team!"

Team overview

A successful brand team goes way beyond targets and goals and demonstrates a true passion for the product and for the needs of the patients who could benefit from it.

Humira's multi-disciplinary brand team was brought together to address the changing multi-stakeholder external environment of a brand with indications in three therapy areas, and worked together with a common goal – to build a five year plan that would enable all of the clinically appropriate patients to have access to Humira. 

As well as the obvious functions that would be expected, the team engaged members from other important functions and a total of 30 individuals were committed with a passion to the belief that early intervention with Humira could transform patients' lives for the better, not just physically, but holistically. 

This new approach involved everyone in building a brand plan that was deeply rooted in patient insights, not just implementing it.

The results for the brand were impressive, the results for the team members were often personal and the results for patients were life changing.
