Could There Be More?

by Sobi with support from Say Communications

Summary of work

Knowledge and understanding of haemophilia management and how treatment is evolving remains very limited amongst patients and their families, according to research commissioned by The Haemophilia Society. It also revealed >50% of patients had been prevented from doing something they wanted to do in the past month, missing out on improved quality of life.

The ‘Could there be more?’ online initiative was developed as a result of these key insights. Firstly, it empowers the haemophilia community by providing accurate and up-to-date information about haemophilia, its management and available treatments, co-developed by the community for the community. Secondly, it inspires people living with haemophilia to change their negative perception of what they can achieve in life by sharing and celebrating their ‘everyday victories’, focusing on the positive aspects of life they enjoy.

There are 8,099 people living with haemophilia in the UK, yet within the first six months the initiative reached 86,000 people with an interest in haemophilia and increased understanding of haemophilia management and treatment: an online feedback tool shows that 77% of people found the materials useful. Qualitative feedback indicates that the initiative successfully inspired those living with haemophilia to not be held back by the condition.
