Summary of work
Tens of thousands of patients in the UK suffer from seriously debilitating auto‐immune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). These conditions can physically disable patients thereby dramatically impacting on their quality of life. Anti Tumour Necrosis Factor (anti‐TNF) drugs have been successfully used over the past 10 years to transform the lives of these patients. Along with the increasing use of these medications has come the development of patient home care services to accompany the medication. Our aim was to improve this home care service to measurably enhance patient care and benefit the NHS.

"MSD used in-depth knowledge of care delivery in this sector to focus on some of the most important elements of the service package. In order for it to be effective MSD had to recognise and work with the multidisciplinary nature of homecare services – not just clinicians, but nurses, service managers, payers and private homecare delivery services."
