Medigrity Innovations has launched a healthcare information and online appointments site for patients in India that connects with its physician community DocLynk.
The Hyderabad-based firm said its new eMedWorld patient portal is “tightly integrated” with DocLynk, the online healthcare professional community it launched in January.
A free health portal, eMedWorld offers an online appointment system, with all doctor/dentist searches displaying medical practitioners registered on DocLynk.
It also contains a range of health information, contact lists of hospitals and clinics, pathological laboratories, diagnostic services and wellness centres, as well as online discussion forums.
Unveiling the new site last month Shashi Mamidibathula, Medigrity Innovations' CEO, said: "eMedWorld aims to facilitate a smooth exchange of information between medical practitioners and healthcare service seekers.
“As a health portal, eMedWorld also serves the objective of empowering users by providing comprehensive information on a variety of health related topics."
The Indian online physician community landscape has yet to see the rise of a single dominant player, but a number of sites have been competing for this position.
Medigrity Innovation's new patient portal could give its DocLynk an edge over more established sites, such as DoctorsHangout.com and Doctors Global, if it can provide its members with more commercial opportunities.
• Meanwhile, the rise of online physician communities in Europe will be the topic of a forthcoming webinar from Networks in Health and Doctors.net.uk, which will be hosted in association with PMLiVE on October 10 at 1pm (UK time)
