The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) is the trade association for the research-based pharmaceutical industry in the UK. Its primary objective is to involve itself with policy development and decision-making. Members include the large majority of pharmaceutical companies in the UK and it negotiates between both large and small companies that research and develop prescription medicines.
The ABPI has 150 members including the large majority of the research-based pharmaceutical companies operating in the UK. Our member companies develop, research, manufacture and supply more than 80 per cent of the medicines prescribed through the National Health Service (NHS).
