The process of getting the goods from the manufacturer or supplier to the user. In a distribution chain, when a product leaves the manufacturing site, it goes to the wholesaler who then takes it to the retailer who finally distributes it to the end users. Sometimes the product can go directly to the retailers, thus bypassing the wholesalers.
