The branch of medical science that deals with the study of incidence, distribution and control of a disease in a population. Epidemiology is the measure of how frequently diseases occur in specific groups of people and why? Epidemiological data is used to develop and evaluate approaches to prevent illness and as a blueprint to relevant carers of patients in whom a disease has already progressed.
