The position a website is located in a set of search results from a keyword or set of keywords. Search engines use complex algorithms to determine the order in which search results are presented.
Many search engines offer sponsored links whereby website owners pay to appear in a prioritised position on the search results page. These positions are usually to the top and/or right hand side of the page and are usually styled differently to distinguish them from standard (organic) results.
