Biogen has appointed Matt Griffiths as senior vice president and chief information officer.
The move is a promotion for Griffiths, who joined Biogen earlier this year from Dell as VP of pharmaceutical operations and corporate information technology.
In his new role, Griffiths will aim to develop the company’s overall strategy for enterprise IT, including business engagement, global solution development and support and infrastructure, while supporting the core business and growing pipeline.
Adriana Karaboutis, executive VP of technology and business solutions at Biogen, commented: “Matt’s technical expertise, background in analytics and business solutions, and his ability to bridge disparate organisations and disciplines will be critical as technology plays an increasingly important role at Biogen.

Prior to joining Biogen, Griffiths spent 16 years at Dell where he held numerous IT roles in Europe and the US.
He additionally serves on the Pharmaceutical Information Systems Association (PISA), a non-profit organisation that shares information and IT best practices across biotech and pharma firms to further the industry’ capabilities.
