BMS appoints new head for UK and Ireland

Johanna Mercier is named general manager of the region

BMS Johanna-Mercier

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) yesterday named Johanna Mercier as general manager for the UK and Ireland.

Mercier moves from her former role as European commercial and access lead at BMS. She replaces Amadou Diarra who moves on to a new role within the company’s global policy and government affairs team.

Mercier said: “The UK and Ireland is a hugely influential market, where decisions are made that impact healthcare and research around the world. I look forward to my new role as general manager for this market and the opportunity to lead BMS towards becoming a specialty biopharma company.”

During her most recent role at BMS she supported the launch of over five innovative new medicines in just two years.

In more than 25 years in pharma she has led brand, disease and medicine access strategies across a range of therapeutic areas, working on a national, global and European level.
