The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has appointed France's Dr Pierre Demolis as vice-chair of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP).
Dr Demolis is director of the oncology and haematology division at the French Medicines Agency (ANSM) and originally trained as a cardiologist.
In his new role, he will work with chair Dr Tomas Salmonson of Sweden to head the CHMP, which provides recommendations on the use of drugs in the EU.
Dr Demolis' appointment comes after six years serving as a member of the CHMP. He has prior experience at the EMA, including serving as a member of the Scientific Advisory Working Group.
