Covington boosts European life sciences group

New partner and an associate will focus on issues involving EU law

Adem Koyuncu, CovingtonLegal firm Covington & Burling has added a new partner and an associate to strengthen its efforts in EU law for life sciences companies.

New partner Dr Adem Koyuncu (pictured) is qualified as both a lawyer and medical doctor, and will join Covington's compliance practice, heading the firm's German life sciences practice.

A leading life sciences lawyer, he has worked on EU and German regulatory issues concerned with pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other health and consumer products.

Koyuncu has also worked in compliance, privacy and product liability matters, along with assisting life sciences clients with corporate transactions. He joins Covington from another international law firm, where he was partner and co-chair of the global life sciences group.

Covington's Brussels office serves as a hub for EU clients, and the firm hopes that appointing Koyuncu will enhance its ability to advise a broad range of clients across German and the wider European Union.

"Dr Koyuncu's arrival significantly strengthens our ability to advise a broad range of clients in the pharmaceuticals and medical devices industries on matters in Germany, the EU and Europe,” said Covington chairman Timothy Hester.

Joining Covington alongside Koyuncu is new associate Sabine Stute, who is also licensed to practice law in Germany. Both will be based in Brussels.
