London-based communications agency Portland Health has appointed Dean Sowman as an account director.
He joins Portland from MHP Communications, where his two-year stint saw him rise to a senior account manager role and included a secondment to Sanofi Pasteur MSD’s comms team.
Sowman said: “I am delighted to be joining Portland’s excellent and growing health team, and am really excited about helping our clients navigate this rapidly and substantially changing health landscape.”
Prior to his time at MHP he served as parliamentary and policy manager at ukactive, a UK trade body for the physical activity sector, where he led a national public health campaign that received the Public Affairs Award for ‘Trade Body Campaign of the Year’.

His wealth of experience in public affairs and healthcare communications will support and further develop the work we do for our clients.”
It’s the agency’s fifth senior hire in just over a year and Portland Health said that overall its health team had expanded by 30% during 2016.
