Pfizer's former CEO and chairman Jeff Kindler has joined venture capital firm Lux Capital as a venture partner.
The New York-based firm said Kindler would help identify new healthcare investment opportunities and work with its portfolio of companies.
“With tremendous leadership experience in the healthcare industry, Jeff has an appreciation for the intersection of novel science, product development and commercial transactions,” said Robert Paull, managing partner at Lux Capital.
“As Lux continues to make new investments at the cutting edge of healthcare and as our life sciences portfolio matures, Jeff will prove to be an invaluable resource."
Kindler, whose current roles include acting as senior advisor to global investment company Paragon Pharmaceuticals, left Pfizer in 2010 after four years at the helm.
“I have great respect for the work Lux Capital is doing to build and back companies addressing some of healthcare's biggest challenges,” said Kindler. “It's a great group, and I look forward to being actively involved across the portfolio.”
Kindler has previously served as chairman of PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America) and, prior to joining Pfizer in 2002, he held senior legal roles at the General Electric Company and McDonald's Corporation
