GW Pharmaceuticals promotes Adam George to MD

And Scott Giacobello joins as chief financial officer

UK biopharma company GW Pharmaceuticals has promoted chief financial officer Adam George to UK managing director.

To fill the CFO role GW has recruited Scott Giacobello, who will be based at its US headquarters in Carlsbad, California.

George’s role is a newly-created one that encompasses broad leadership responsibilities for UK operations and sees him report to the company’s CEO Justin Gover.

Gover said: “These important leadership appointments reflect GW’s continuing evolution into a transatlantic commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company.

“Scott’s significant financial and accounting expertise will be a major asset to the organisation as we make that shift.

“In addition, with Adam having served as CFO since 2012, his new managing director – UK role leverages the broad knowledge he has of our business and provides continuity of strong senior UK-based leadership, essential elements to our continued success.”

George has been with GW since 2007, joining as company secretary and financial controller and will continue to serve as its company secretary.

In his new role he will be tasked with ensuring GW’s UK operations achieve their strategic and operational goals.

Giacobello, meanwhile, has 25 years experience in finance and operations, most recently as CFO for Chase Pharmaceuticals until its acquisition last year by Allergan.

Prior to that, From 2008 to 2015, he held senior level finance positions at Allergan.
