The Healthcare Communications Association (HCA) has appointed Mike Dixon to succeed Anneliese Cameron as its new chief executive officer.
He said: “I am delighted to be taking the helm of the HCA to proactively support, represent and champion the organisation on behalf of the healthcare communications sector.
“Over the coming months, I look forward to helping evolve the organisation to ensure it remains relevant and valued by the healthcare communications sector in the years ahead.”
Dixon brings over 28 years in healthcare communications, working in-house and leading and owning specialist agencies, and he also has UK and global multichannel experience within pharma, medical devices, consumer and NHS communications.
He was most recently executive director at Solaris Health and then at its global network Vivactis Global Health, having formed with Marian Byrt in 2007 the full service integrated comms group echo, which became part of Solaris Health in 2015.
Prior to that he served at Jago Pearce, and subsequently Huntsworth Health, Burson Marseteller and Ruder Finn, having started his career as a medical sales rep for Abbott.
Commenting on behalf of the HCA Executive Committee, ABPI executive director of communications Aileen Thompson said: “We are really pleased that Mike has decided to lead the HCA at this critical time for our industry. We have no doubt that he will do an excellent job navigating us through this increasingly challenging environment.”
She added: “We would also like to thank Anneliese Cameron for her significant contribution in leading the HCA over the past two and a half years and wish her all the very best for the future.”
