Swiss life sciences firm Lonza has announced that Stephan Kutzer is to step down as chief operations officer for its pharma and biotech division to be replaced by Marc Funk.
Funk, who is currently the company's chief legal officer, will take over from Kutzer on July 1, 2014.
Richard Ridinger, CEO of Lonza, said: “[Funk] has already successfully managed operational and commercial projects in the pharma and biotech network and has been responsible for global quality in pharma & biotech for more than a year.”
Funk's experience prior to joining Lonza in 2008 includes four years as corporate counsel at Merck Serono.
He was also previously a co-CEO at GeneProt, a now defunct US-based biotech company.
