The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has appointed a new director of licensing.
Pharmacist Dr Siu Ping Lam had been acting director of licensing at the regulator since September 2013 having previously served as deputy directory of licensing.
Dr Lam is veteran of the MHRA having joined in 1989 as a pharmaceutical assessor.
Over his career he was worked with European and international partners on a number of European directives for pharmaceuticals and he has been the UK delegate to a number of European Commission Working Parties.
Dr Ian Hudson, the MHRA’s Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that Siu Ping has accepted this position. His extensive expertise and experience will be vital in our role of safeguarding public health and encouraging the innovation of promising new medicines for the benefit of public health.”
