Roche appoints Philip Atkinson to new global role

He will lead the company's new scientific communications group

edit-Philip-AtkinsonRoche has set up a new group within its global medical affairs department called scientific communications and picked Philip Atkinson to lead it.

Atkinson, who was previously head of commercial services at Roche Pharmaceuticals, will be based at the Swiss pharma company's sites in Basel, Switzerland and San Francisco in the US.

Atkinson told PMLiVE that his new role will challenge him on how Roche can best communicate its data to physicians and customers and how the company can help to transform patient care.

Atkinson has a long track record of success in leading commercial and medical teams, including sales, marketing and commercial services.

Prior to joining Roche in 2001 he previously worked at Novartis, Sanofi and communication agency Medicus.
