Theravance has named Frank Pasqualone as senior VP, operations.
Pasqualone joins the US-based biopharma from Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) where he most recently served as president of the intercontinental region, including Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
He spent 25 years at BMS, where his roles included present of southern Europe and head of the company's US oncology/virology business. He also led diabetes marketing in the US at one stage.
Pasqualone joins Theravance as the company at a crucial time as its development deals with GlaxoSmithKline bears fruit with US approval of respiratory treatment Anoro Ellipta.
This followed the approval last year of Theravance's antibiotic Vibativ (telavancin) to treat a hospital-acquired lung infection.
Since then, the company has been strengthening its senior business team, a process that has included the appointment of Jeff Jonker as senior VP, corporate and business development.
