Healthcare communications agency Tonic Life Communications has named Mary Smiddy as global CEO in a shake-up of its senior leadership.
Smiddy (pictured), a qualified nurse, will join Tonic from Porter Novelli London where she was responsible for the growth of the agency’s health practice as head of healthcare.
The appointment comes six months after former CEO and co-founder Scott Clark resigned his role, along with fellow co-founders Oliver Parsons and Moira Gitsham and London managing director Stéphanie Bunten.
Smiddy will take over running of the company in November this year. She has strong international experience, with leadership roles at Weber Shandwick and Edelman in Australia, Singapore, the Middle East and North Africa.
Neil Matheson, global CEO of Huntsworth Health – Tonic’s parent group – said: “We continue to expand our global footprint with offices in Doha and Singapore and Mary’s experience in the Middle East and AsiaPAC will be a great asset to Huntsworth Health.”
Tonic also announced Tasmin Tierney as the new managing director for its operations in Europe. Tierney, who is promoted from her role as deputy managing director for the region, will also lead the Tonic EU Professional Practice.
Matheson said: “Tamsin has been a strong and supportive leader as Tonic has gone through some significant change over the past year.”
