Woolley Pau Gyro appoints Andy Jones as creative director

The appointment sees founder Dean Woolley becomes executive creative director

Woolley Pau Gyro has appointed Andy Jones to the role of creative director. Joining the agency’s leadership team, Jones makes the move from Ogilvy Healthworld Advertising, where he was deputy creative director.

Jones described the move to Woolley Pau Gyro as: “An opportunity too good to miss; the best job for a creative in healthcare advertising.”

He told The Directory: “When I started working in healthcare I asked a bunch of people, ‘which is the best agency in town’? The answer was always the same: Woolley Pau. Six years later, I’m excited to be part of the team of talented individuals working very hard to ensure that continues to be the case.”

New creative leadership at the agency means a change of focus for agency founder Dean Woolley. Taking the job title of executive creative director, Woolley said: “Having Andy here to run the creative department gives me the opportunity to work more directly on client business. That means doing even more of what I’ve always loved doing for the agency: developing creative strategy; coming up with campaign ideas; simply writing copy. That doesn’t all fit on a business card, so I get to be called executive creative director.”

Woolley believes that there’s never been a more exciting time to be part of the agency: “Change is happening in every direction: new people; new skills and perspectives; new channels of communication for our clients. But what’s not going to change at Woolley Pau Gyro is our belief in intelligent, engaging creative work. How we made our reputation is how we’ll make our future.”

Several new faces have joined Woolley Pau Gyro following the appointment in November last year of managing director, Ed Shorthose.

Describing his vision for the agency Shorthose said: “We want to gather the brightest people we can in one place and get them working together to solve our clients’ business problems. So for us, Andy was the perfect candidate. He’s a talented advertising creative who understands the transformative power of ideas. Like us he is passionate about developing the people around him. And he just happens to have a life science PhD.”
