Bayer HealthCare launches online cardiovascular tool

ProHeart Path tool calculates CV risk

Bayer HealthCare has launched an online tool that calculates a user’s five-year risk of a cardiovascular event and gives those in need of assistance advice on how to lower their risk of cardiovascular events.

The ProHeart Path tool, available at IamProHeart.com, is based on risk assessment calculated through personal information provided by a user and returns an individualised summary and recommended action plan.

Fred Duchin, VP of marketing analgesics of cardiovascular at Bayer Consumer Care, said: “Bayer HealthCare has long been dedicated to providing heart health education.

“We are proud to launch the ProHeart Path tool as we believe it’s a resource that may motivate change in individuals at risk for heart stack or stroke. We hope it provides great value and truly life-saving information.”

The online tool takes a user’s gender, age, height, weight, smoking status, history of diabetes, heart attack or stroke, family history of heart attack and current medications and then evaluates associated risk factors before producing a personalised cardiovascular event risk score.

One of the key aims of the tool is to generate conversation with a GP about ways to lower risk for heart attacks and strokes.

Tracy Stevens, member of the WomenHeart Scientific Advisory Council, commented: “As a cardiologist, I see many patients come into my office without an understanding of their risk factors for a cardiovascular event. Being proactive about your health, speaking with your physician and understanding your risks are so important.

“By using the ProHeart Path tool and receiving a personalised action plan, you will be equipped for an essential discussion with your physician about how you can best care for your heart.”
