Frontera London Pathway Stories of Rebirth

Frontera London is supporting a unique fashion campaign by UK charity Pathway to raise awareness of the healthcare issues faced by people living on the streets.

Pathway works to help the homeless get access to full and thorough healthcare through the NHS, and the chance to be ‘reborn’ though support to get them back on their feet.

The Stories of Rebirth campaign saw designers from the likes of Vivienne Westwood recreate clothes originally owned by former homeless people and transform the garments to tell the life stories of their original owners.

The clothes are currently being sold off via upscale second-hand clothing website HardlyEverWornIt.com in an online auction, bidding for which ends on 6 September, 2015.

Pathway’s chief executive Alex Bax said: “‘Stories of Rebirth’ has a simple but powerful message. Taking a powerful symbol of homelessness, clothing, and giving it the chance to be ‘reborn’ represents the ‘rebirth’ that homeless people can experience if they are given the right healthcare and the right support to get back into society – to give them a second chance in life.”

Founded by the late Aidan Halligan, Pathway has helped more than 3,000 people across the UK. By doing so, they developed models of integrated healthcare in the NHS for single homeless people and rough sleepers, with care pathways planned around the individual patient.

This is Pathway’s first event since Dr Halligan’s sudden passing in April, and Bax said the auction would be a great tribute to the charity’s founder. “Aidan was a fantastic ambassador for homelessness within the National Health Service.

This auction shows the importance of his legacy, and the work that Pathway does to help those who have struggled to get the treatment they need in order to survive,” Bax added. In the meantime Pathway and Frontera London are raising money via Crowdfunder to cover the costs of the fashion auction event.
