Golden night for Saatchi & Saatchi at the PM Society Awards

Agency picks up three Golds, closely followed by Lime, McCann Manchester and VCCP Health with two each

Saatchi & Saatchi Health’s work for Novo Nordisk and Allergan earned it three Gold awards at Friday’s annual PM Society Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The London-based healthcare advertising agency topped the leader board, edging past VCCP Health, Lime and McCann Manchester, who each picked up two Golds at the ceremony.

Saatchi & Saatchi Health triumphed in the Craft Award for Film for Novo’s NovoMix, and Secondary Care Campaign and Craft Award for Advertisement Campaign – both for Facial Aesthetics for Allergan.

Now in their 30th year, the 2015 PM Society Awards also saw a ‘winner of winners’ award for the most popular primary care advertisement since 1990, with finalists compiled from an online poll and the winner chosen by a text poll of attendees.

This special award went to the Xenical ‘butter’ ad (2006), which surpassed Risperdal’s ‘house’ and ‘chest’ (1998 and 2004), Tritace’s ‘whale’ and ‘walrus’ (2002 and 2003), an Idrolax ad (2005) and the ‘cheese’ and ‘curry’ Xenical ads (2007 and 2008).

PM Society Awards chair Neil Smith said “It was hugely rewarding in our 30th year to welcome so many new and familiar faces to Grosvenor House to see for themselves the quantity and quality of work our excellent healthcare agencies can produce.

“For the first time our exhibition included interactive screens enabling individual selection and full viewing of all digital entries alongside panels of print material, reflecting the multi-media nature of so much of today’s communications. It is also gratifying to note that there is still an appetite for significant numbers of the pharmaceutical community to gather in celebration of great work and to exchange news and views.” 

Teva Pharmaceuticals and Allergan shared top honours in the Gold category, taking home two apiece, with AstraZeneca, Shire and Gilead among those picking up a single Gold at the awards.
