New industry standards group launched

Biopharmaceutical solutions organisation company Syneos Health has helped to establish Align Clinical CRO, a new industry standards group which aims to improve clinical trial collaboration and execution.

The new organisation is said to represent a ‘first-ever global effort’ where CROs are joining forces to develop open technology standards to transform clinical trial operations.

Officially launched late last month, Align Clinical CRO brings together six CROs and cloud computing group Veeva Systems to help create open technology standards intended to simplify trial execution and improve the productivity and efficiency of clinical trials for sponsors.

Rachel Stahler, chief information officer for Syneos Health, said: “Smart collaboration - identifying better and faster methods to deliver medicines to patients - is at the heart of everything we do at Syneos Health.

“Within our organisation, we’ve purposefully removed the silos between the clinical and commercial disciplines to provide solutions that improve operational delivery and enable our customers to speed therapies to patients.”

Syneos Health, formerly known as INC Research and InVentiv Health, expects to bring industry knowledge to the new offering, along with clinical and commercial expertise and integrated, multi-disciplinary perspectives.
