New NHS Alliance launches healthcare TV programme

In Search of Wellness follows those on a quest to improve healthcare

The New NHS Alliance has teamed up with ITN Productions to create a new healthcare-based TV programme called In Search of Wellness.

The programme will explore healthcare systems and the issues surrounding them, following those involved in the industry and zeroing in on their mission to improve the nation’s health and wellbeing.

Presented by newsreader Natasha Kaplinksy, the news-style piece will combine key interviews, case studies and sponsored stories from Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult, and Novartis to name a few.

Simon Shelley, head of industry news, ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions has been delighted to partner with the new NHS Alliance to create In Search of Wellness.

“We are extremely pleased with how this programme brings to life those revolutionising the diagnosis, treatment and research of many severe diseases.”

According to the UK-based production hub, the programme aims to ‘inform’ and ‘enlighten’ viewers by exploring topics such as health technology, the patient experience, mental health service solutions, age-related disease cures and innovative cell and gene therapies.

Merron Simpson, chief executive, New NHS Alliance, said: “I always enjoy hearing about the pioneering work of our industry partners and to see the many ways in which the health sector is changing.

“I’m struck by the level of sophistication of some our partners’ work and also improvements in the patient experience.”

The programme formed part of a campaign uniting New NHS Alliance members, thought leaders and government representatives, and it launched at the New NHS Action Summit last week.

Formerly focused on general practice and primary care, the NHS Alliance rebranded itself as the New NHS Alliance in 2016 to seek a wider healthcare remit as a “value-led movement of people and organisations … committed to building a sustainable, community-based health service”.

In Search of Wellness premiered at the New NHS Alliance’s December 6 Action Summit and will form part of an ‘extensive’ communications campaign planned by the organisation.
