Ogilvy CommonHealth releases pharmacy report

The Power of Pharmacy debates its role and the change it faces

Ogilvy Commonhealth Worldwide

Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide has released a new global report entitled The Power of Pharmacy.

The report examines why and how pharmacy is preparing for significant changes, based on insights from pharmacists in addition to opinions and predictions from the agency's pharmacy experts.

Gloria Gibbons, president of EAME Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, commented: “In Europe alone there are more than 400,000 community pharmacists, with 46 million people visiting them each day. As the healthcare professional that is often closest to the public, their recommendations and advice have the power to truly change health behavior on a daily basis.

“In order to remain competitive, respond to increasing demands and juggle their dual responsibilities as retailers and healthcare professionals, we've found that pharmacists are seeking greater support so that they can better serve both customers and communities.”

The report also explores why pharmacy places centrally in the community and its increasing importance amongst customer, governments and manufacturers around the world. Pharmacists will be looking to the industry for assistance in fulfilling their role.

Gibbons added: “By looking ahead to the future, the report sparks interesting discussion on how tomorrow's pharmacists will deliver better healthcare for patients, whilst still running a successful retail business."

Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide is the health behaviour change specialist of Ogilvy & Mather.
