Ardana, an emerging pharmaceutical company focused on improving reproductive health, has appointed Klaus Falk as vice-president, sales and marketing

Ardana, an emerging pharmaceutical company focused on improving reproductive health, has appointed Klaus Falk as vice-president, sales and marketing. Klaus has over 20 years' experience in the pharma industry working for Merck KGaA in a number of posts, including eight years as general manager in Central and South America. In his role as vice-president, Europe, at Merck KGaA, he was responsible for sales and marketing and his achievements included the successful launch of the oncology franchise's first product, Erbitux, in 2003.

Dr Richard Taylor has joined European specialty pharma company, Norgine, as business development manager in the firm's global marketing and business development unit. Dr Taylor joins from the University of Bristol where he was responsible for technology transfer deals and commercialisation strategy for bioscience inventions. Prior to this, he worked in licensing at GSK for seven years.

Baxter has made two new appointments: Catherine Forster as senior product manager in the renal business, and Blair Stewart as product manager in the antibody therapy business. In her new position, Catherine will be responsible for continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and renal programmes. She has been at Baxter for 12 years and worked primarily within the transfusion therapies business. Blair will be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing programmes for Baxter's hyper-immune and critical care brands. Before joining Baxter, he worked for Glaxo Wellcome, AstraZeneca and most recently BMS.

Weber Shandwick has promoted Lucy Harper to managing director of the agency's healthcare practice in the UK. Lucy, who was most recently deputy managing director, will report in her new role to Colin Byrne, CEO of Weber Shandwick UK and Fiona Hall, European managing director of healthcare. She has 11 years' experience of healthcare PR. Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Lucy spent seven years at Shire Health London.

Oxford Immunotec has made three appointments to its senior management team: Philip Page has joined the company as director of operations. He has 25 years' experience of pharma and worked previously for Evotec OAI, where he was responsible for the production, quality and engineering departments. James O'Rafferty has been appointed as associate director of European sales. He joins the firm from VWR, a division of Merck KGaA, where he
was European development manager, healthcare. James has 15 years' experience of pharma and diagnostic sales. Barbara Maniglia has joined the company as senior manager of EU marketing. She has 15 years' experience of sales and marketing. Barbara worked previously for Applied Biosystems.

Claire Pope has joined Shire Health International as senior project manager. Previously, Claire worked in the PR division of Sudler & Hennessey London, where she was responsible for the strategic development of pan-European campaigns.

Dee Stennett is launching deeFIND Recruitment following the closure of Equal Parts Recruitment. deeFIND will specialise in PR, med ed, advertising, market research, event management, IT, CRM and medical publishing. Dee has strong relationships with key industry figures, which have been established over the last six years from her time at Pharmaceutical Marketing Ltd and Equal Parts Recruitment.

Aoife Kilkenny has joined Fleishman-Hillard as deputy head of healthcare public affairs. Aoife, who has more than seven years' experience of healthcare communications, joined from Media Strategy.

LeapFrog Medical has appointed two new account executives: Kate Matthews and Katie Edlerton-Brown. Kate has worked previously as a copy editor at Nature. Katie has a broad base of client handling experience.

Chandler Chicco Agency (CCA) has made two new appointments: Alison Dunlop and Alex Charlton. Alison will provide consumer counsel to the Botox European communications programme for Allergan and develop consumer-facing campaigns. Alex joins the agency having completed a four-month internship. She has a degree in marketing and PR. In addition, Nicolas Simplicio has joined Litmus, CCA's medical education offering.

Bernadette Mann has joined ScopeMedical as editorial executive. She has eight years' experience working on regulatory documents for the pharma industry.

Richard Cowhig has joined Cherry Advertising as senior account director. He has a wealth of experience across a wide range of therapy areas, including anti-inflammatories, monoclonal antibodies, ACE inhibitors and vaccines.


Munro & Forster has made four new appointments to its healthcare and consumer practices: Daniel Burges joins as senior account manager. He worked previously for Solaris. Miranda Penfound who is appointed as senior account executive comes to the agency from Tonic Life Communications. Susie Mowat joins as account executive from Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. Sonal Patel joins the agency as a trainee account executive.

Hale Recruitment is a new offering from Kate Hale, formerly of Equal Parts Recruitment. The new firm will provide an individual, tailored and professional service to clients and candidates. Kate has worked with healthcare agencies in advertising, med ed, PR, CRM and branding during seven years at Pharmaceutical Marketing Ltd and most recently at Equal Parts Recruitment.

Medicom Group has appointed Dr Dianne Cottle as medical manager as part of the agency's move to create an in-house approval system which both mimics and complements that of the pharma industry. Dr Cottle will be spearheading the new internal approval process.

Sandy Agnew has been appointed as business director of Avenue HKM. She joins from Euro RSCG Life MedEd.

Medicus International has hired two new people: Catherine Wood joins as publications editor and Laura Williams as account manager. Catherine joins from Future Drugs where she was on the editorial team of Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics and Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy. Laura joins the agency from MediTech Media.

Shire Health London has hired Jodi Lewis as project manager. Jodi joins from Northbank Communications.

Red Door Communications has appointed two new business unit directors: Vicky Kelham and Jeannine Nolan. Vicky joins from Chiron and will head up the NHS Consulting practice at Red Door. She spent six years at WestawayGillis before becoming a market access manager at Chiron. Jeannine, who will head up the consumer healthcare team, has been a freelance communications consultant for the last six years, during which time she has been acting head of health practices at communications agencies Edelman Dublin and Ogilvy, acting head of communications at AstraZeneca UK, as well as a consultant for Pfizer Consumer Health.

Helen Bridges and Marlene Due have joined Packer Forbes as account manager and account executive, respectively. Helen worked previously at Resolute Communications, while Marlene joins the agency from an in-house job at Eli Lilly & Co.

Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare London has made six new appointments: Graeme Fry as art director; Wendy Colman as agency co-ordinator; Nimi Raja as account executive; Maryse Mignott as account manager; Leon Heinimann as design/artworker and Jennie James as copywriter.
